There were about 6 kids pretty much the same age that all grew up together on the cul-de-sac where we lived. During the summer when they were out of school, they used to go house-to-house raiding everyone's refrigerators while all the parents were at work. Then they made lunch. They only got into trouble once. The neighbor had taken out filet mignon to thaw for dinner and the boys wanted tacos. So they put the steaks into the food processor and ground them up for taco meat. The neighbor was NOT happy! Other than that, that is how they all learned cook. The moms were working and we always had left plenty of food for them and they all got pretty good at cooking and they enjoyed it. The never again turned steak into hamburger, though.
